Over the past decade, I’ve experienced the joy of dining at churrascarias (Brazilian steakhouses) on multiple occasions across the United States. They are, in my opinion, one of the best places to eat if you have any love for fire-roasted meats. The churrascaria that I’ve experienced the most and am most familiar to people is the well-known chain Fogo de Chão.
It’s been almost five years since Nashville had a churrascaria to grace its presence. The last one that in the area was Fire of Brazil, which lasted for about 2 years and finally closing its doors in …

I’m not going to lie. I knew about Las Paletas for a while now, even before I was a Tennessee resident almost two years ago. I distinctly remember when I first read about it on the Internet (Trip Advisor to be exact). I accompanied Haley for a trip to Nashville for a job interview and while interviewing, I tried my hardest to find Las Paletas (which at the time didn’t have a store sign) but I never found it… that is until just a few weeks ago when I ran in the half marathon with Haley. Back in March, I read an article about a new restaurant called Mangia Nashville in The Nashville Scene. The article was quite lengthy, but went into extreme detail about the history of the venture as well as in-depth reviews of the meal that evening. Being the avid food lover that I am, I called the number that was supplied only to find that reservations be done via e-mail. Expecting to hear back with good news, I found that there was almost a 2 month wait and the earliest they could accommodate me was on April 30th. This past Saturday, …

My latest dining experience to review is from a local restaurant called The Mad Platter that was unexpectedly one of my better dining experiences in Nashville to date . In all honesty, I wasn’t expecting much from this restaurant because the last upscale, local restaurant I tried ended up being slightly average. On top of that, when I attempted to make a reservation at The Mad Platter, the person I spoke to was quite rude and short with me over the phone. That alone got me started off on the wrong foot but because of my love for food; …

As a child, I never got to really appreciate American barbecue due to lack of availability. The biggest locale for barbecue was probably Owensboro, KY but given its distance and being overshadowed by a “cooler” city (Evansville), it was often overlooked. It wasn’t until when I moved to Lexington did I didn’t get to experience barbecue on a more frequent basis.
My first memory is of the Famous Dave’s barbecue chain, which in my opinion is one of the better chains out there but for some reason, it closed down in Lexington. My most recent memories involve Sonny’s Bar-B-Q, another …
