Ending Friday’s “Dine-Fest” With Ice Cream at Marble Slab

After Chuy’s and then Stoney River, I was about to pop but Haley insisted on getting dessert. Thus I ended Friday’s feast with a visit to Marble Slab Creamery with Haley buying. There’s always room for dessert!

Marble Slab Creamery is an ice cream parlor that serves “super premium” ice cream made in-store and was the first to come up with the idea of folding in add-in ingredients atop a frozen granite slab. Others ice cream parlors that are similar are Cold Stone Creamery and Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and Treatery. While both are competitors, Marble Slab Creamery and Maggie Moo’s are owned by the same company (Global Franchise Group) who acquired the franchises from NexCen Brands, Inc.

While Marble Slab Creamery’s website offers over 30 flavors, I only saw maybe half of them in the store. Regardless of choices, I always get strawberry ice cream because my favorite fruit is strawberries. That is until I saw the latest advertisement for strawberry shortcake.

According to the promotion, Marble Slab’s Strawberry Shortcake dessert consists of their signature Sweet Cream ice cream scooped on top of white cake and then drizzled with strawberry topping and finished with a heaping pile of whip cream. What made the dessert was not the white cake or the topping, but that amazing Sweet Cream ice cream.

The texture and taste of the butterfats that make up cream in general are just plain delicious. I love cream whether it is whipped, half and half, heavy, turned into butter, etc. I don’t know anyone else who loves butter as much as I do (except maybe Paula Deen) and Marble Slab’s Sweet Cream ice cream seems to have a lot of it. Then end result is something divine and the next time I visit, I’m just going to get a pint or two of that ice cream to take home with me.

Compared to the other ice cream parlors in Franklin, Marble Slab ranks among one of the better ones simply because of the quality of their ice cream. If you love the flavor of cream, I definitely suggest you try the Sweet Cream ice cream at Marble Slab.

Keep up the good work your sampling is giving us ideas for when we travel to TN. Have you ever taken Haley to the Melting Pot?
